The Food Psychology Clinic uses a range of techniques to help you to make permanent changes.

The Food Psychology Clinic runs workshops for individuals, for organisations and schools/universities focussed on improving both the mental and physical health of individuals.  Each workshop is tailored to the needs of the client/organisation and the goal of the workshops is to equip individuals with the tools that they need to manage both their mental and physical health effectively.  Topics covered in the workshops include:

- what individuals can do to boost their resilience;

- how individuals can use techniques such as CBT and mindfulness to manage mental health and avoid mental illness;

- how perfectionism and procrastination often lead to poor mental health;

- what is driving their food and lifestyle choices;

- the connection between food and mental health;

- what food choices are optimal and can maximise productivity, health and happiness;

- how to achieve behaviour change and improve both their diet and their mental health;

- what some common eating disorders are and how to spot the signs and symptoms of common eating disorders in themselves and in others; and

- the connection between food, sleep deprivation and stress and how to best manage stress and optimise sleep.

All of of the workshops are focused on equipping individuals with the practical tools they need to manage both their mental and physical health.  Each session is designed to be entertaining, engaging and interactive - we aim to leave participants feeling uplifted and inspired after the session and equipped with a tool-kit to help them manage their own mental and physical health for the years to come. 

Resilience Building 

- We explore practical tools that can be used to boost resilience, including techniques from CBT, mindfulness and NLP

- We look at how resilience building can boost both mental and physical health and prevent illness

- We cover how to achieve behaviour change: most people know that they need to eat better and sleep more - we explore how an individual can actually bring about changes to their lifestyle

- We suggest how best to manage stressors and cover practical tools that individuals can use to feel more in control and better able to cope

The Science of Sleep

- We cover why everyone needs sleep and the science demonstrating the benefits of sleep both for their mental and physical health

- We explore practical tools that individuals can use to optimise their sleep quality, drawing on the scientifically-validated techniques from CBT-I

- We look at what may be getting in the way of individuals getting a good night’s sleep

- We make the connection between sleep quality, nutrition, stress, mental health and overall life-quality

Nutrition and How to Change your Diet Sustainably

- We cover what components make up a nutritious diet - also exploring how genetic make-up and the state of an individual's micro biome plays a role in the needs of each person’s unique body

- We cover why, despite knowing what food is healthy, most people are unable to make the dietary choices that they know are best for their health

- We cover the practical steps that all individuals can take to make sustainable changes to their lifestyles and food-related behaviours

- We explore the connection between food, mood and our thinking patterns and cover psychological tools that can be used to change an individual’s diet

Mindfulness and CBT

- We cover how these two psychological techniques can help individuals to manage their mental health and boost their well-being

- We explore positive psychology and what every individual can be doing to boost the state of their mental health

- We cover the science demonstrating that mindfulness and CBT are both proven to have beneficial impacts on everything from immune function to anxiety

- We equip individuals with practical tools to implement mindfulness and CBT into their daily lives - both in the workplace and in their personal lives to enhance relationships

Beat Binge Eating

 - We cover what typically causes binge eating and bulimia and help individuals to understand what is happening in their brain when they binge eat

- We equip individuals with practical tools that they can use to stop binge eating for good 

- We explore what factors may get in the way of an individual’s recovery and cover how an individual can manage these

Eating Disorder Awareness

- We raise awareness and understanding of common eating disorders including anorexia, orthorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, bigorexia and dibulimia

- We explore how perfectionism and an individual’s self-perception/confidence is often connected with the development of eating disorders

- We explore practical tools individuals can use if they have an eating disorder or to help those around them if they may be dealing with an eating disorder

Manage stress effectively 

- We explore what stress actually is from both a psychological and physiological perspective

- We equip individuals with tools from a range of psychological disciplines to better enable them to manage stressors

- We discuss how optimising sleep and diet can help to manage stress 

- We help individuals to support those around them that may be feeling overwhelmed or out of control
