WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS?

Our treatment is one in which you will receive a high level of care, attention and service. It is important to us that you feel supported throughout your treatment and that the treatment is tailored to you as an individual and your specific needs. You will be matched with a therapist that will deliver the majority of the treatment for you. This therapist will deliver psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and a range of other psychological interventions to help you to rebuild your relationship with food. You will, as part of your treatment, also have one or two sessions with a nutritionist who can support you to build new habits around food.

The first session that you have with your therapist will be 90-minutes and each of the follow-ups will be 60-minutes. Your therapist will design a personalised and tailored treatment for you and will also check-in with you by email in-between sessions. You will also receive workbooks and hypnotherapy recordings to use in between sessions too.

WHICH TECHNIQUES WILL YOU USE IN MY SESSION?

Most sessions will combine several techniques, including hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, NLP and meditation. You also have the option to have some sessions with a nutritionist too.  However if you would prefer for certain techniques not to be used or would prefer only to focus on using one technique, the sessions can always be tailored to your individual requirements.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SELF HELP AND ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS?

Both the self-help and one-on-one options provide you with the tools, techniques and resources to shift your relationship with food. With the self-help options you would guide yourself through a programme, equip yourself with these tools and check-in for email support once a week.  With the one-on-one options, a therapist will equip you with these tools, explore your past in some more depth and also be able to provide tailored psychological interventions, including hypnotherapy.  There is also the option to sign up for one of the self-help programmes and add one or two one-on-one sessions to this.  Here are the main differences between the options:

WHAT EXACTLY IS HYPNOSIS AND HYPNOTHERAPY?

People often ask whether hypnosis can be used to take control of their mind or to make them do things which they do not want to do.  There are a lot of misconceptions around hypnosis and hypnotherapy.  Hypnosis and hypnotherapy rely on relaxation techniques to get the brain to a state where it is more able to process suggestions and where it is possible to alter subconscious patterns.  You will be fully aware of everything that is happening and being said during the process but will be in a more relaxed state.  Hypnosis or hypnotherapy cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do.  Hypnosis is simply a tool which can help you to achieve your goals and make it easier to adopt new patterns and habits.

I'VE TRIED SO MANY THINGS BEFORE AND NOTHINGS HAS WORKED, WHY WILL THIS WORK?

Many people come to us for help with their relationship with food feeling nervous and having tried many things unsuccessfully before.  The issue with many food-related interventions out there, is that they only look at our relationship with food from one angle. For example, just seeing a nutritionist or dietician may mean that you learn more about WHAT to eat without any help on WHY you are making the unhelpful food choices that you are making. Similarly, working with a psychotherapist or hypnotherapist that has no specific nutrition training or support, may mean that you are just advised to "eat less" or "eat more" without an in-depth exploration into the psychology behind your food choices.  We specialise in food-issues and so really understand the complex matrix of factors that can drive unhelpful food-related habits.  The unique method that we use at the clinic means that the treatment you receive with us will be different to any treatment that you may have received elsewhere.

WHY IS THIS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER COACHING/ HYPNOSIS/ THERAPY I'VE FOUND?

Unfortunately, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy are not regulated professions and therefore people with all different types of training and qualifications can put themselves out there as selling these services and at a range of different price points. It is important to us that you only work with well-qualified and trained professionals that also have a good deal of experience of working with issues with food. Our service is also different to other therapy offerings as you also receive ongoing support in between sessions, you will have sessions with a nutritionist and you will also receive workbooks and hypnotherapy recordings to use even after your treatment.  We offer 3-4 day check-ins and provide a very high level of service and care. It is important to us that you feel fully supported through the process as we have seen how this creates the optimum environment for allowing you to achieve change.

FOR HOW LONG WILL I NEED THERAPY?

The process is different for everyone.  Some people are able to achieve their goals within one or two sessions and others require regular sessions for several months before they achieve their objectives.  We can work together to tailor a treatment plan that works for you and your budget, ensuring that we can achieve your goals as quickly as possible.  The recommended minimum treatment is a 90-minute first session, followed by 4 one hour long sessions spaced 2/3 weeks apart.  The optimum treatment for lasting change is to have 10 or 15 one-on-one sessions over the course of 3-4 months.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Each therapy session runs for either an hour or 90 minutes.  For the first session it is preferable to book in for a 90 minute slot.

WILL I NEED TO KEEP COMING BACK IN THE FUTURE?

The goal of the treatment is to resolve your disordered eating permanently, so that you do not need to seek out any further treatment in the future.  If however you feel that you need to book in an additional refresher session in the future or would like to deal with any other issues, feel free to get in touch.

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS?

There are several payment plan options for each of the treatments. There is the options to pay in 3 instalments for the 10 and 15 1-on-1 session packages and the option to pay in 2 instalments for the self-help programmes and 5-session 1-on-1 package. Get in touch to find out more about the payment plans on offer.

HOW IS THIS SERVICE DIFFERENT TO OTHER WEIGHT-LOSS/ EATING DISORDER SERVICES?

Our approach is different to any other hypnotherapist/ psychotherapist/ nutritionist out there because we won’t just recommend that you eat less and exercise more for weight loss - we know that you already know that you need to eat less and exercise more.  In fact, our approach is one which encourages you to enjoy food and to make changes to your lifestyle which won’t leave you feeling miserable and deprived.  Our unique inter-disciplinary, FTCM® method for resolving food issues, is a method that is not used elsewhere. We understand both the psychology of eating patterns as well as which nutritional changes are optimum for achieving lasting results.  Most therapists don’t understand nutrition and most nutritionist don’t understand psychology - but we understand both and so are able to bring you the best information from a range of different disciplines that you won’t find elsewhere.
